Different Types of a TBI

There are different types of TBI
Diffuse TBI – Diffuse axonal injury is a form of traumatic brain injury that happens when the brain rapidly shifts inside the skull shearing the axons within the brain. This is commonly seen in acceleration/deceleration or side-impact motor vehicle collisions. Also known as Coup-Contrecoup brain injury.
Focal TBI – A focal brain injury is a traumatic injury to the brain in a single location. This often occurs as a result of a direct blow to the head.
Blast TBI – A blast injury is a complex type of physical trauma resulting from direct or indirect exposure to an explosion.
